- Web browsers no longer need it to location websites
- “Cleaner’ sounding
- Less for the listener to remember improving the chances the listener will go to website
- It’s easier for the voice talents – have you ever tried to say ‘w-w-w’ and make it sound natural?
Fee for special file format requests:
With the evolution of different phone systems more and more on holds are needing each paragraph to be broken up into a separate audio files. Our standard price structure is not based on this new type of formatting because of the additional time required. I am also running into additional requests for a multiple formats of a production. Formatting your productions this way is not a problem however there will be an added fee of $15.00.

Wav Files have Multiple Formats
When requesting a ‘wav’ file keep in mind that there are many types of ‘wav’ formats. The two most common for on hold equipment are:
u-law 8k, 8bit mono
8k 16bit mono.
Rule of thumb is 120 words a min.
4 Min <> 450 TO 520 words
6 Min <> 680 TO 800 words
Keep in mind that if the voice texture is ‘warm’ or ‘relaxed’ they are read slower thus taking more time
Also, if you amend a script that has a time limit make sure that you are staying within the allotted word count. Don’t simply add copy without removing copy!
IVR’s (Voice Mail Prompts) are becoming more and more popular as an additional revenue stream for most on hold retailers. With on hold productions our voice talents have agreed to the fixed pricing, however that is not the case with IVR’s.
There are many factors that we look at when quoting these types of productions.
<> Voice Talent selection because each talent charges differently
<> The amount of copy and number of extensions
<> In many cases the prompts include names which are sometimes challenging which add time for the voice talents.
<> In most cases they require separate audio files, different/multiple audio file formats
<> Some also require CSI to load them into the clients phone system
This is why it is recommended to have IVR scripts quoted.
Two Requirements for IVR orders:
<> Each prompt needs to be numbered in order
<> 12 pt font should be used
